Privacy policy
Draft. This page is awaiting review and may change before Hedgerow apps go on sale.
Last updated October 29, 2026.
Hedgerow apps are made to keep your data on your PC. This policy explains the few times the apps go online and what they send, what we keep when you buy a license, and how this website works. Hedgerow is published by MVP Holdings LLC (“we”, “us”).
The short version
- No accounts, no ads, and no analytics or usage tracking, in the apps or on this website.
- What you make and keep with the apps (files, notes, recordings, clipboard history, time records, settings) stays on your PC. It only leaves when you send it somewhere yourself, for example with a send action.
- The apps go online to activate and check a license, to check for updates, to send crash reports if you turn that on, and for a few features listed below for each app.
- When you buy, Stripe handles the payment. We keep your name, email address, license key and the names of the PCs you activate.
On your PC
Each app keeps its settings and data in its own folder, usually %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\<app name>. The Direct edition also stores the date your trial started under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hedgerow in the registry, and an app you set to start with Windows adds itself to your sign-in startup list. Uninstalling removes the app. Most uninstallers ask whether to remove your data as well, and you can always delete the folder yourself.
When an app crashes, it writes a crash report into its own folder so you can send it to us if you want. Nothing in these folders is uploaded unless this policy says so.
When the apps go online
License activation and checks (Direct edition)
When you activate a key, the app sends our license server at licenses.hedgerowapps.com:
- the license key;
- which app it is;
- your PC’s name (the Windows computer name), so you can tell your PCs apart on the Manage devices page;
- a device ID: a one-way fingerprint of the ID Windows gives your PC (a SHA-256 hash of the Windows
MachineGuidwith a fixed Hedgerow prefix, shortened to 32 characters). It lets the server recognize the same PC when you reinstall, so it isn’t counted twice, and it can’t be turned back into the original ID. It’s the same for every Hedgerow app on the PC.
About once a week, when the PC is online, the app checks the license again by sending the key, the app and the activation’s ID. Deactivating sends the key and the activation’s ID. The server answers with a signed token that lets the app work offline. Our server sees your IP address with each request and uses it only to limit abuse; it isn’t stored with your license.
Update checks (Direct edition)
To see whether a new version exists, an app downloads a small file from updates.hedgerowapps.com. The request carries only the app’s name and version. Most apps check only when you choose Check for updates; Shrinkwell, Stashbay, Jotsend, Draftroom, Notegrove, Pressleaf and Pulsetray also check on their own. Updates are only installed when you say so, and each one is verified before it runs. Our update files are hosted by Cloudflare, which processes these requests (including your IP address) for us.
Crash reports
Crash reports are off unless you turn them on, during setup or in the app’s settings. With them on, a crash sends one report to crash.hedgerowapps.com: the app and Windows versions, the time, and the technical details of the error, with file paths removed. We use them only to find and fix bugs. Stashbay keeps crash reports on your PC and never uploads them.
Features that use the internet
A few apps have features that go online. Each one is listed here:
- Jotsend: Email opens your default mail app with a new message: the draft's first line as the subject and the rest as the body. Jotsend doesn't send the email; you do, from your mail app.
- Jotsend: Search the web opens your browser at the search address set in Settings (Bing unless you change it), with up to the first 400 characters of the draft in the address.
- Jotsend: Share opens the Windows share panel with the draft's title and text. Only the app you pick there receives it.
- Jotsend: Custom actions with an "Open a web address" step open your browser at the address you set, with draft text wherever you placed a token.
- Tapline: When you click Search, Translate or Define, your web browser opens the site you chose in Settings › Actions with the selected text in the address. Tapline itself makes no connection for this.
- Tapline: Custom actions you create pass the selected text to the web address or program you set, only when you click them.
- Sumpad: Exchange rates: Sumpad downloads the European Central Bank's daily reference rates from www.ecb.europa.eu shortly after it starts and about twice a day while it runs. The request contains none of your data. It is on by default; turn off "Update rates automatically" in Settings › Currency to update only when you click "Update now".
- Hushscribe: Speech models download from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) when you choose one during setup or in Settings › Models, or when you add a file and the chosen model isn’t installed yet. Only the model file is requested; no audio, text or personal details are sent.
- Pulsetray: If you turn on Settings › General › Allow public IP lookup (off by default) and then choose Public in the network card, Pulsetray makes one request to api.ipify.org to show your public IP address. Nothing else is sent.
Links you open
Buttons such as Buy, Help or Manage devices open pages on this website or our license server in your browser. Opening them is your choice.
When you buy a license
Checkout is run by Stripe, which collects your payment details and handles them under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card number. From Stripe we receive your name, email address and order details, and Stripe may collect billing details such as your country to work out tax.
Our license server, which runs on our own server, keeps:
- your email address and name, and the Stripe order and payment references;
- your license key, stored encrypted and as a one-way hash, never in plain text;
- for each PC you activate: its name, the device ID described above, and when it was activated and last checked in;
- a log of license events, such as activations, refunds and keys resent.
We use this to send you your key, let you manage your devices, prevent misuse of keys, handle refunds and disputes, and answer support emails. We send your key by email through our email provider. We don’t sell or share your details with anyone else, and we don’t send marketing email.
The Manage devices page signs you in with a one-time link emailed to you, or with your key. Sign-in links and sessions expire after an hour or less.
We keep license records for as long as the license can be used, so you can reinstall and move between PCs. Daily backups of the license database are kept for two weeks.
Microsoft Store edition
Apps installed from the Microsoft Store don’t contact our license server or update service. Microsoft handles the purchase, the license and updates under the Microsoft privacy statement. Crash reports work as described above.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and loads nothing from other sites: no fonts, scripts or embeds. It runs on our own server, which is set up not to keep access logs. Downloads come from updates.hedgerowapps.com, hosted by Cloudflare.
Your choices and rights
- Use the trial or a Store edition without ever contacting our license server, and leave crash reports off.
- Free up a PC any time at Manage devices.
- Ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing support@hedgerowapps.com. Deleting your license record means the key stops working.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.
Children
The apps and this website aren’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If the apps start sending anything new, we’ll update this policy first and change the date at the top.

App by app
What each app sends, and where it keeps its data.
Linkweave
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Linkweave
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Linkweave sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Linkweave crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your hooks and the items they connect: titles, file paths and web addresses.
- A history of items you opened the popup on, so search can find them. Turn this off in Settings › General, or clear it in Settings › Data.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry and a handler for linkweave: links under your user account (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Linkweave only looks at the app in front when you press the hotkey or click the tray icon. Depending on the app, it reads the File Explorer selection, the browser's address bar and window title, the open Office document, the window title, the command line the app was started with, Windows' Recent items, or Notepad's open tabs. All of this stays on the PC.
- When you copy a link to a file or hook it, Linkweave asks Windows to give the file a permanent ID, the same way Windows shortcuts do, so the link can follow it. The file's contents and modified date don't change.
- Crash reports, when turned on, have file paths and web addresses removed before they are sent.
Pathjump
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Pathjump
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Pathjump sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Pathjump crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your favorites, settings and excluded apps.
- Your recent folders, with the program name of the app that used each one last, and the last folder each app saved to.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, when that setting is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- To find Open and Save dialogs, Pathjump watches for new windows in other apps. It reads a dialog's current folder and the app's program name, and nothing else. It never adds code to other apps.
- It reads Windows' own list of recently used dialog folders (without changing it) and the folders open in File Explorer.
- For search, it builds a list of folder names in your own folders and favorites on local drives. The list is kept in memory, not saved, and network drives are never scanned.
- Crash reports, when turned on, have file and folder paths removed before they are sent.
Shrinkwell
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Shrinkwell
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Shrinkwell sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Shrinkwell downloads a small file listing the latest version about 30 seconds after each start. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Shrinkwell crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your settings and watched folders.
- Recent activity: the names, locations and sizes of the last 50 optimized files, plus recent skips and errors.
- Your originals, in a backup folder or next to each file, depending on your choice. Backups are deleted after 30 days by default.
- Copies of recently optimized clipboard images, so Paste original and Copy again work.
- Daily log files, kept for 7 days, and crash reports if the app crashes.
- A trial record in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry, a "Send to" shortcut and a notification registration under your user account (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Shrinkwell reads images you copy so it can offer a smaller version. Content that apps mark as private or as excluded from clipboard history, such as from password managers, is ignored. Clipboard images and files are never uploaded.
- Earlier versions kept their data in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Shrinkwell. It moves to the Hedgerow folder the first time this version starts.
Sortwise
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Sortwise
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Sortwise sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Sortwise crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your watched folders, rules and settings.
- An activity log of what each rule did (file names and where they went), kept for 30 days.
- A list of the files Sortwise has seen in each watched folder, so it knows what is new.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, when that setting is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- To match rules, Sortwise reads file names, dates and sizes, the "downloaded from" address Windows stores with downloaded files, and, for the Content condition, the text inside PDF, text and Word files. All of this stays on the PC.
- Crash reports, when turned on, have file and folder paths removed before they are sent.
Stashbay
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Stashbay
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Stashbay sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Stashbay downloads a small file listing the latest version at most once a day, a minute after it starts. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: kept on your PC only. Stashbay never uploads them.
On your PC:
- Your settings.
- Your shelves and the locations of the items on them, so they come back after a restart.
- Images, links and text you drag in from browsers and apps, saved as files and deleted when you clear the shelf or after 7 days (you can change this).
- A small log file and, if Stashbay crashes, a short crash report with the app version and where the error happened. Neither includes file contents.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry and a notification name and icon under your user account (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- To spot a shake, Stashbay watches mouse movement while you drag. It checks which app the drag came from only to honor your list of excluded apps. Nothing is recorded.
- Earlier versions kept their data in
%APPDATA%\Stashbayand%LOCALAPPDATA%\Stashbay. It moves to the Hedgerow folder the first time this version starts.
Copyloft
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Copyloft
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Copyloft sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Copyloft crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your clipboard history (text, links, colors, file and folder paths, and images with thumbnails) and pinboards, in a database on this PC. Deleting an item removes it from the file, not just from view.
- For each item, the name of the app it was copied from and when.
- Your settings and list of excluded apps.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, if that option is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Copyloft skips anything an app marks as private or not for clipboard history, and anything copied from password managers or apps you exclude.
- Copyloft never visits links you copy. A link's page title appears only when your browser put it on the clipboard.
- Files and folders are kept as references to where they are, not as copies.
- If you turn on "Use Win+V for Copyloft", it watches the keyboard for that one key combination only, and only while the option is on.
Jotsend
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Jotsend
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Jotsend sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Jotsend downloads a small file listing the latest version shortly after it starts and then every 6 hours. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Jotsend crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
- Email opens your default mail app with a new message: the draft's first line as the subject and the rest as the body. Jotsend doesn't send the email; you do, from your mail app.
- Search the web opens your browser at the search address set in Settings (Bing unless you change it), with up to the first 400 characters of the draft in the address.
- Share opens the Windows share panel with the draft's title and text. Only the app you pick there receives it.
- Custom actions with an "Open a web address" step open your browser at the address you set, with draft text wherever you placed a token.
On your PC:
- Your drafts, as one small file each plus a journal of recent edits, in a library folder you can move in Settings › Storage. Deleted drafts stay in Trash for 30 days unless you change it.
- Your settings and your actions.
- Short-lived copies of a draft when you use Open in app or Create calendar event. They are deleted after a day.
- Files your actions save, append to or create stay wherever you pointed them.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, if that option is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Actions run only when you pick one: from the action bar, the actions panel, the Ctrl+K list, its Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 shortcut, or Ctrl+Enter for your default action. Nothing is sent in the background.
- If an email is too long for a mail link, the body is shortened and the full text is put on your clipboard so you can paste it in.
Scratchbay
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Scratchbay
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Scratchbay sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Scratchbay crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your five pads, as plain text files plus a journal of recent edits.
- A copy of the last text you cleared from each pad, so Undo clear works after a restart.
- Daily backups of your pads from the last 7 days, while Daily backups is on (it is by default).
- Your settings, including pad names, colors and where floating pads sit.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, if that option is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- If you move your pads to another folder in Settings › Data, they are kept there instead. Backups stay next to Scratchbay's settings.
Tapline
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Tapline
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Tapline sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Tapline crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
- When you click Search, Translate or Define, your web browser opens the site you chose in Settings › Actions with the selected text in the address. Tapline itself makes no connection for this.
- Custom actions you create pass the selected text to the web address or program you set, only when you click them.
On your PC:
- Your settings, custom actions and list of excluded apps.
- A count of how often you use each action, for the most-used list in the tray flyout.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, if that option is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Tapline reads the selected text through Windows accessibility to pick which actions to show. It does not keep the text, and never reads password fields.
- In apps that don't share their selection with Windows, Tapline copies it for a moment and then restores your clipboard. Windows clipboard history (Win+V) may keep that copy. You can turn this off in Settings › General.
Draftroom
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Draftroom
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Draftroom sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Draftroom downloads a small file listing the latest version about 45 seconds after it starts. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Draftroom crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your library, in Documents\Draftroom or the folder you choose in Settings › Library: your writing as plain Markdown files, plus notes, attachments, keywords, goals and snapshots of earlier versions.
- A record of how many words you wrote each day, for goals and streaks.
- A daily backup of your library in the data folder, keeping the last 30 (you can turn this off).
- Up to 10 recent crash reports, kept on the PC whether or not sending is turned on.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- The installer registers an app path under your user account so other apps can find Draftroom.
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, only if you turn it on in Settings › General (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Your writing is never uploaded. “Open in Pressleaf” saves a Word document and opens it in Pressleaf on the same PC.
- Crash reports, if turned on, contain the app and Windows versions, the time and the error details, with file names and paths removed. They never include your writing.
Notegrove
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Notegrove
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Notegrove sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Notegrove downloads a small file listing the latest version about 30 seconds after it starts. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Notegrove crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your notes, tags and links, in a database in the library folder, with pasted pictures and attached files copied next to it. The library is in the data folder unless you move it in Settings › Data.
- A daily backup of your notes in the data folder (the newest 30 are kept), and deleted notes in Trash for 30 days.
- After the trial, the number of new notes made today.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry in your user Run key, only while Start with Windows is on in Settings › General (Direct edition; off by default).
Good to know:
- Rich text pasted from the web keeps remote pictures as links. Notegrove doesn't download them.
- Spell check uses the spell checker built into Windows, on the PC.
Pressleaf
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Pressleaf
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Pressleaf sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): Pressleaf downloads a small file listing the latest version about 45 seconds after it starts. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Pressleaf crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your books, as .pressleaf project files in Documents\Pressleaf or wherever you save them, including any pictures.
- Your settings and the list of recent books.
- Preview pages and the ebook preview’s browser cache, in the data folder.
- Up to 10 recent crash reports, kept on the PC whether or not sending is turned on.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- The installer registers .pressleaf files to open in Pressleaf, and an app path so other apps can find it, under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, only if you turn it on in Settings › General (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- The ebook preview uses Microsoft Edge WebView2 to show pages built on the PC. It loads only those local files, with scripts turned off and links blocked.
- Crash reports, if turned on, contain the app and Windows versions, the time and the error details, with file names and paths removed. They never include your manuscript.
Sumpad
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Sumpad
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Sumpad sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Sumpad crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
- Exchange rates: Sumpad downloads the European Central Bank's daily reference rates from www.ecb.europa.eu shortly after it starts and about twice a day while it runs. The request contains none of your data. It is on by default; turn off "Update rates automatically" in Settings › Currency to update only when you click "Update now".
On your PC:
- Your sheets, as plain text files with a change journal so no typing is lost.
- The quick-calc scratch sheet.
- The last exchange rates downloaded, with their date.
- Your settings.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account (Direct edition).
- A Start with Windows entry under your user account, if that option is on (Direct edition).
Good to know:
- Deleting a sheet moves a plain-text copy of it to the Recycle Bin, so you can restore it from there.
Hourtrail
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Hourtrail
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Hourtrail sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Hourtrail crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- An activity database: for each stretch of time, the app in front (its file name and friendly name), its window title, and for supported browsers the site's domain, with start and end times.
- Your projects, rules, categories, manual entries and time you assigned by hand.
- The file locations of apps you have used, so the timeline can show their icons.
- The last 10 crash reports, kept locally whether or not you send them.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry in your user Run key (Direct edition; on by default, turn it off in Settings › General).
Good to know:
- Hourtrail reads the title of the window in front and, in supported browsers, the address bar through Windows accessibility, to record time. Only the site's domain is kept, never the full address. Activity stays on the PC and is never uploaded.
- Window titles and sites are recorded by default; either can be turned off in Settings › Tracking. Apps and sites on the "never track" lists record nothing at all.
- Private and incognito browser windows are tracked like any other window. Turn on Hourtrail's private mode to keep their titles and sites out.
- Activity is kept until you delete it, unless you choose to keep only 1 year or 90 days. Deleted titles are overwritten in the database.
- Never records keystrokes, screenshots or the contents of documents, pages or messages.
Taskwell
Data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow\Taskwell
- License activation (Direct edition): when you enter a key, Taskwell sends the key, your PC’s name, the app’s name and an anonymous device ID to our license server. About once a week it checks the license again, sending the key and the activation’s ID.
- Update checks (Direct edition): only when you choose Check for updates. The request includes the app’s name and version, nothing else.
- Crash reports: off unless you turn them on. If Taskwell crashes, it saves a report on your PC; with reports turned on it also sends that report, with file paths removed, to crash.hedgerowapps.com.
On your PC:
- Your tasks, with their notes, checklists, tags, dates, reminders, projects and areas, in a database on your PC.
- A backup of your tasks once a day (the newest 30 are kept), in the data folder or a folder you choose.
- Deleted tasks in the Trash for 30 days.
- The last 10 crash reports, kept locally whether or not you send them.
- A trial start date in the registry under your user account.
- A Start with Windows entry in your user Run key (Direct edition; on by default, turn it off in Settings › General).
Good to know:
- There is no account and no sync. Tasks never leave the PC unless you export them or choose a backup folder that another program copies elsewhere.
