Stashbay
A shelf that appears when you shake a drag.
Drop files, images, text and links on a floating shelf, go find where they belong, and drag them back out. Shelf actions zip, copy, move or share in one move.
Start dragging something and give the mouse a quick wiggle. A shelf appears beside the cursor, without taking focus. Drop things on it, switch to wherever they need to go, and drag them back out. You no longer need two Explorer windows side by side.
The shelf holds references to your files, never copies, so the originals are never touched. Actions along the bottom of the shelf zip, copy, move, share or open what you dropped.
What it does
Shake to summon
Wiggle the mouse while dragging and a shelf appears. It only reacts during a real drag, so moving windows or selecting text never opens one.
Other ways in
Press Ctrl+Shift+Space, click the tray icon, or push the cursor against a screen edge mid-drag. Turn each one on or off.
Anything you can drag
Files and folders, plus images, links and text from browsers and other apps, which Stashbay saves as real files for you.
Drag out like Explorer
Items leave the shelf the way they would leave Explorer, with the usual move or copy rules and Ctrl and Shift keys.
Shelf actions
Copy to or Move to a favorite folder, Zip, Copy path, Open with, Share and Show in Explorer. Drop straight onto an action to run it.
Up to 5 shelves
Move them, pin them on top, or let them auto-hide. Each remembers where it was, and shelves come back after a restart.
Keyboard friendly
Everything works without drag and drop: add files, paste, copy, preview with Space, and use the item menu.
