Sortwise

Rules that keep your folders tidy, with a preview first.

Sortwise sorts new files in the folders you choose by simple rules. You see a preview before anything moves, and every action can be undone.

Pick a folder like Downloads, Desktop or Screenshots and give it a few plain rules: rename screenshots by date, file invoices by year, send old installers to the Recycle Bin. Sortwise applies them to new files as they arrive.

Every rule shows a live preview of exactly what it would do, and Run now does just that. Every action is logged and can be undone, and nothing is ever deleted permanently.

What it does

  • Rules as sentences

If a file matches all or any of your conditions, do these actions in order. Match on name, extension, kind, size, dates, where it was downloaded from, or text inside a PDF, text file or Word document.

  • Live preview

While you edit a rule, a list shows the files it matches right now and exactly what would happen to each. Run now does the same thing the preview showed.

  • Works on its own

New files are handled a few seconds after they finish saving or downloading. Files still downloading or in use are left until they are ready.

  • Undo anything

The Activity page keeps 30 days of history. Undo one file or a whole batch, including files sent to the Recycle Bin.

  • No permanent deletes

The Recycle Bin is the only delete. On a drive without one, Sortwise skips the file instead.

  • Templates

Start from Auto-file my screenshots, Clean up Downloads, File invoices or Tidy the Desktop. Each shows how many files it would affect now.

  • Pause

Pause all rules or one folder for an hour, until tomorrow, or until you resume.

14 days, everything included

Download Sortwise and use all of it for 14 days. No account and no card needed.

After the trial: Rules stop running on their own. Run now still works for one rule a day, and Activity and Undo always keep working.
