Sumpad

A notepad that does the math as you type.

Write sums in plain words, like "3 hours at $85" or "120 USD in EUR", and the answer appears beside each line as you type.

Type "Rent 1,850 + utilities 210" or "120 USD in EUR" and the answer appears in a column on the right, line by line. Words around the numbers are ignored, so a sheet reads like a note.

Name values and use them further down, refer to other lines, and add up a block with "total". Every sheet saves as you type, and a quick-calc popup is one shortcut away.

What it does

  • Plain-language math

Add, subtract, multiply, divide, powers, brackets and percentages, with words around the numbers. "20% off 80" is 64.

  • Variables and totals

Write "rate = 85" and use rate anywhere on the sheet. "total", "sum" and "average" work on the lines above.

  • Units and dates

Length, weight, volume, area, temperature, time, data and speed, converted with "in" or "to". Dates too: "today + 3 weeks", "days until Dec 25".

  • Currency

About 30 currencies with the European Central Bank's daily rates. Offline, Sumpad uses the last rates it has and shows their date.

  • Quick calc

Press Ctrl+Alt+C for a small calculator over whatever you're doing. It keeps your last scratch and can become a sheet.

  • Always saved

Every edit is saved the moment you make it. Sheets sit in a searchable list and reopen where you left off.

  • Copy, export, print

Click a result to copy it. Export a sheet as text or PDF, or print it.

  • Your number format

Numbers and dates follow your Windows region, so "1.850,50" works in Germany. You can pick another format.
